The Apprentice Trailer: Sebastian Stan Turns Donald Trump And Learns The ‘Rules’ Of Politics In Ali Abbasi Biopic

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinema and a background in political analysis, I must admit that I am intrigued by the upcoming biopic “The Apprentice.” Having followed the evolution of Donald Trump’s public image over the years, it will be fascinating to delve into his formative years under the tutelage of Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong.

In the latest preview for “The Apprentice,” Sebastian Stan portrays a younger Donald Trump, who’s being tutored in life and politics by his mentor, Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong. This series covers significant aspects of Trump’s life that occurred decades prior to his presidency from 2017 to 2021.

As a devoted admirer, I can share that based on the official summary, this movie portrays my journey as a young man named Donald Trump, determined to establish a reputation in the bustling New York City of the 1970s, striving as the ambitious second son from a prosperous family. A formidable lawyer named Roy Cohn takes me under his wing, shaping me into the Donald Trump that history recognizes today.

In Cohn’s view, Trump is an ideal protege – driven by raw ambition, thirsty for victory, and ready to go to any lengths to emerge victorious, as further described. Directed by Ali Abbasi and scripted by Gabriel Sherman, the biopic started filming in November 2023. The following month, Stan was observed donning a suit and the iconic Trump wig while sitting on a bench in New York City.

Renowned for creating films that touch on potentially contentious topics, Abbasi recently took charge of a crime thriller titled Holy Spider. This movie focuses on a reporter delving into the murders of sex workers that have occurred in the Iranian religious city of Mashhad. In another context, the former star of Gossip Girl has been seen; he previously appeared in the 2022 Hulu series Pam & Tommy. Here, he portrayed Tommy Lee opposite Lily James as Pamela Anderson.

During the premiere of his film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Abbasi encountered criticism and threats from people who support Donald Trump. In response, Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, declared that they would challenge the misleading portrayals in the movie.

Despite their concerns, the director remained unfazed and adamant about moving forward with the film. He even humorously suggested using the upcoming U.S. elections as a promotional tool during an interview at Cannes festival, which drew laughter from the audience of reporters.

The Apprentice will be released theatrically on October 11 in the US.
