Jacob Elordi is now the frontrunner to become the next James Bond, according to betting odds. The 28-year-old Australian actor has gained significant popularity after starring as Heathcliff in the recently released film adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
Just last week, Elordi was a long shot at 14/1, but his odds have dramatically improved thanks to the film’s success. He’s now overtaken Callum Turner, who was previously the favorite.
Elordi’s odds have dropped to 5/4 following a strong opening weekend for the movie, while Turner’s have slipped from 7/10 to 6/4, putting him in second place as the competition heats up.
Okay, so as a fan following the next James Bond race, it’s been wild the last day! Everyone’s suddenly jumping on the Jacob Elordi bandwagon – seriously, over half of all the new bets are for him to take over the role. It’s crazy because just a month ago, he was a long shot! But after people saw him as Heathcliff, his odds have been dropping fast.
Now, he’s actually the favorite at 5/4, which is a huge shift – he’s overtaken Tom Turner so quickly! It’s not just affecting the Bond contenders either – Margot Robbie, who acted alongside him, is even getting some buzz as a potential Bond girl!
Apparently, Turner was leading the pack for weeks, but over the last 12 hours, people have really started betting on Elordi. Like, 56% of the bets are now for him! Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James are still in the running, but they’re definitely behind Elordi and Turner at this point.
The film Wuthering Heights has had a very successful start, earning an impressive $82 million worldwide during its opening weekend. Starring Jacob Elordi and Florence Pugh as the famous lovers, it’s currently the highest-grossing film of the year in North America.
Despite some initial discussion about the casting, audiences seem to have embraced Elordi as a leading actor, both in a classic literary role and potentially as a future James Bond. Beyond the Bond rumors, Elordi has been incredibly busy with major projects.
He recently earned critical praise and an Academy Award nomination for his role as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which premiered on Netflix in late 2025.
Coming up, fans can look forward to seeing him in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi drama The Dog Stars, scheduled for release in August. He’s also preparing to star with Lily-Rose Depp in the Appalachian story Outer Dark, which will begin filming later this year.
Jacob Elordi will be back for the third season of the hit show Euphoria, which premieres on HBO on April 12th. This season will jump ahead in time and mark the end of the series for its cast, including a tribute to the late Eric Dane. Elordi has successfully moved beyond his teen idol status, proving himself as a dramatic actor with roles in both horror and romantic films, and is now being seriously considered as a potential James Bond – a possibility that feels increasingly likely.
