THE ACOLYTE’s Ending Brings One More Brutal Finale Death

As someone who has followed the journey of Osha in The Acolyte, I cannot help but be in awe of her complex and deeply emotional arc. Having lost her mother at the hands of Master Sol, and carrying the weight of unchecked rage and hurt inside, Osha’s story hit close to home for me. Her struggle to reconcile her past with her present, and ultimately giving into her darker impulses, is a testament to the human capacity for both good and evil.

Since its debut, The Acolyte has been no stranger to fatalities. Therefore, it came as little surprise when the series concluded with yet another significant death. Although some viewers may have anticipated this final demise, the graphic execution was still quite startling. Previous deaths in the show were more shocking than meaningful, but this last one significantly advanced the plot.

The Acolyte‘s Finale Brought Us Master Sol’s Death

After that, only the four Jedi survivors remained on Brendok during the demise of the witch’s coven. The Acolyte managed to orchestrate their deaths one by one. Mae was responsible for the first three, driven by her determination to please her enigmatic Sith Master, “The Stranger,” later unveiled as Qimir in disguise. Qimir urged Mae to harness her fury over her past traumas and sought vengeance against the Jedi he held accountable. Evidently, Qimir harbored personal reasons for his animosity towards the Jedi.

In the last installment of “The Acolyte,” only Master Sol among the Jedi survivors remained from the failed Brendok mission. However, it was clear that Master Sol’s days were numbered. The series concluded with Master Sol’s demise, but this time around, Mae wasn’t the one to inflict the fatal blow.

Osha Kills Sol Without a Weapon

Throughout the series, Qimir has consistently attempted to persuade Mae into killing a Jedi without using a weapon. In the initial episode, he explained, “Jedi live in a delusion, one they believe is universally held; if you assault a Jedi with a weapon, you will not succeed. A sword or laser holds no power against them, but an Acolyte, an Acolyte can shatter their illusion by killing without a weapon.”

Instead of “But it wasn’t Mae who was meant to be his true Acolyte, but Osha. Although Osha left her Jedi education due to uncontrollable emotions, she still harbors immense power in the Force. When she discovered that Master Sol was the one behind her mother’s death and her sibling’s strained relationship, these revelations clashed within her.”

In the last episode of “The Acolyte,” Osha took Master Sol’s life without using a traditional weapon. Instead, she harnessed the power of the Force and force-choked him until he no longer breathed. (Although some may contend that the Force itself functions as a weapon, Qimir may be lenient on this technicality.)

Causing Sol’s Death Turns Osha to the Dark Side

For every action, there’s an inevitable consequence. Whether we perceive Osha’s killing of Sol as retribution or a destructive act, the truth remains that Osha undergoes an irreversible transformation following his demise. In that instant, Osha surrenders to the dark side and her lightsaber shifts from blue to red. Qimir’s vision of the dark side embodies the allure of unrestricted potential and freedom, a stark contrast to the Jedi’s unyielding hold on discipline. Yet, neither perspective can claim absolute truth. And this apparent theme resonates with “The Acolyte” as well.

Now that Sol has met his end with Osha being held accountable, my connection to the Jedi and the light has been completely cut off. I, as Osha, am determined to follow in Qimir’s footsteps from now on. However, the path ahead is still uncertain for me.

The Acolyte Really Racked Up an Unexpected Death Count From Its Beginning to Its Ending

It’s worth noting that The Acolyte caused a significant number of deaths, from Master Indara to Master Sol and all those in between. This may come as a surprise given the context of the series.

If The Acolyte is renewed for a second season, we’d like to see some of its beloved characters last a bit longer. Surprisingly, several brief characters gained massive fan followings. There’s a chance that some deceased characters might reappear in different forms within the Star Wars universe.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but acknowledge the passion and devotion of fellow fans for the beloved characters of Jecki, Yord, and Sol, despite the bittersweet outcome of watching them perish in the game.
