A24 has won the bid to revive the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Known for creating unique and often frightening films, A24 is a great fit for this series, and fans are eager to see what they do with it. According to Deadline, their first project will be a TV series developed by JT Mollner.
I’ve always been a huge fan of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre – it’s just a perfect film, and I’ve said as much. Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel really created something groundbreaking and influential that still stands up today as the best of the best in horror. So, when the chance came to explore that world in a longer format, I was thrilled! It felt like a great way to both pay tribute to the original and add to its legacy. I honestly couldn’t ask for better partners to do it with than A24 – it’s a real honor to be involved.
Glen Powell, the actor, is one of the executive producers of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre TV series, alongside Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Kim Henkel – who originally created the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. Powell will be producing the A24 series but won’t be acting in it. Plus, another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is also being planned, though it’s still in the very beginning stages of development.
The future of the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is uncertain – it’s unknown if it will even be released on streaming. However, Mollner isn’t involved in that particular project. Meanwhile, a Texas Chainsaw Massacre TV series is in development with A24, and that’s something we’re really excited about! Leatherface will be back with his chainsaw, of course.
