Temuera Morrison, who played Boba Fett, has stated that Disney and Lucasfilm aren’t currently working on any new projects featuring the character after The Book of Boba Fett. This means there are no immediate plans for Boba Fett’s return to the Star Wars universe.
The actor shared the news during an interview with Inverse, saying Lucasfilm contacted him after he playfully suggested to fans that he might start a campaign for more Boba Fett appearances.

Temuera Morrison Says Lucasfilm Put Boba Fett “On The Shelf”
Morrison remembered advising fans at a fan event to contact Lucasfilm and request more appearances from Boba Fett. It seems this message reached the studio.
“I was only joking. I’m at a convention, and I say stupid things,” Morrison told Inverse.
Morrison says Lucasfilm got back to him right away with a straightforward answer about the character.
Then Lucasfilm called and told me, ‘They’ve decided to put my character, Boba Fett, on hold. They might bring him back later,’” he explained.
This indicates that the popular bounty hunter isn’t expected to appear in any upcoming Disney projects for the franchise right now.

Morrison Reflects On The Book Of Boba Fett
Even though it’s unclear what the future holds for his character, Morrison shared that he still has great memories of being the lead in The Book of Boba Fett.
“It was a big deal for me,” Morrison explained.
Working on a show like Boba Fett, especially with Ming-Na Wen, made me feel like I was really getting established. I started imagining a long run – seasons two, three, and four.
However, Morrison said the project ultimately came to an end after its first season.
“But at the end of it, we had a great time. I was honored to be brought back after all that time.”
The show debuted on Disney+ in 2021 and continued the story of Boba Fett after he appeared in The Mandalorian. Temuera Morrison returned as Fett, joined by Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.

Previous Reports Said Boba Fett Had No Future Plans
Morrison’s statements support previous reports that Lucasfilm was no longer focusing on this character.
Back in November 2024, Morrison himself said there were no plans for Boba Fett moving forward.
Back in August 2024, there were also reports that Disney had scrapped any ideas to include this character in upcoming Star Wars films or shows.
Those reports suggested Lucasfilm had shifted its focus toward other characters and storylines.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Takes Center Stage
Instead of Boba Fett, Disney appears to be placing another bounty hunter front and center.
Din Djarin and Grogu, the characters from The Mandalorian, will be featured in a new movie coming to theaters in May. It’s the next big Star Wars film from Lucasfilm.
This movie picks up where the Disney+ series The Mandalorian left off, bringing the story back to the movie theater.
Although Morrison believes Boba Fett is currently inactive, Lucasfilm hasn’t ruled out bringing the character back in the future.
It seems the famous bounty hunter has vanished again, retreating into secrecy.
