Since it first aired in 2020, the funny and feel-good sports comedy Ted Lasso has won over audiences, even those who don’t typically follow soccer. The show, known for its emotional moments and well-developed characters, has become a major cultural hit. When the third season ended with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) returning home to the US, many thought that was the end of the story for AFC Richmond. So, the news of a fourth season came as a surprise, leaving fans wondering what would happen next. Now, Nick Mohammed, who stars in Ted Lasso, has confirmed that the new season will be unexpected.

The actor recently told Collider that season four of Ted Lasso will feature a lot of new characters, confirming what many fans suspected.

Honestly, I’m practically sworn to secrecy about this new project! It’s a completely different group of characters, and I really can’t say much without spoiling it. We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up where and when, but I can tell you they’re filming now, and I’ve been hanging out with the cast. They’re all doing great, so I’m excited to see what happens!

This doesn’t mean we’ll stop seeing our favorite characters. While some cast members are confirmed to return for season four, it sounds like they might have smaller roles, appearing from time to time rather than being main characters.

As a huge fan of Ted Lasso, what really made the show special for me was the incredible cast and how they all connected. Their constant positivity and the feeling that they were a real family just drew me in from the start. It’s honestly a little heartbreaking to think we might not get to see as much of them going forward. But the way season three ended felt hopeful – Roy Kent and Jamie taking the reins of the men’s team is fantastic, Rebecca’s plan to give the club to the fans is brilliant, and I’m so excited Ted is back in Richmond to build up the women’s team. It leaves the door open for some amazing stories!

The change has understandably caused some worry about the show’s direction. It will be fascinating to watch how the new relationships develop. Currently, they are filming the fourth season.
