Taylor Swift ‘Not Given Second Thought’ by Manor Owner During Debut Album Recording; Praises How Her Music ‘Lines Up’

It might come as a delightful discovery to Taylor Swift‘s admirers that a picturesque estate in Franklin, Tennessee, had a significant impact on her burgeoning music career. Known as the Dark Horse Estate, this sprawling 20-acre property, nestled merely 25 minutes away from downtown Nashville, was the site where Swift recorded portions of her debut album when she was only fifteen years old.

Robin Crow, who has long owned the estate, discussed the tale during an interview with PEOPLE. “During those few weeks she was recording here, I think we met only once or twice and I didn’t give it much thought,” Crow recalled. “Now, she’s a global superstar.

The property features three exclusive sound recording studios situated within a timber construction building. It was here that Taylor Swift produced some of her initial music compositions. For over three decades, Crow, the owner, has witnessed numerous musicians passing through this estate; however, Swift’s rise to fame stood out as extraordinary.

He remarked, “Time and again, I’ve witnessed record labels pour vast sums into an artist, but with little to no results. However, there are instances like Taylor Swift’s where everything just seems to fall perfectly into place, as if by magic.

Over time, Dark Horse Estate has welcomed a variety of musicians. As Crow mentioned, Kings of Leon spent more than three months there to work on their recordings, whereas Shawn Mendes stayed for about three weeks and resided within the villa.

The spacious mansion, known as “The Manor,” can be found on the opposite side of the estate. It boasts seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, three kitchens, and multiple living spaces. Among its luxuries are a 34-foot fireplace, a library, a billiards room, and a media room.

Today, enthusiasts have the opportunity to book The Manor via Airbnb. This property requires a two-night minimum stay, with rates starting at USD 4,958 in April. Crow, its proprietor, characterizes the estate as a creative hub where visitors can unwind and cultivate inspiration. Although primarily utilized by professional musicians, it is also accessible for retreats, workshops, and exclusive events.
