Taylor Swift names her favorite song off of The Life of a Showgirl

It’s often strange when a musician picks a favorite song from their own work. The biggest issue is that it could lead many fans to also choose that song as their favorite. People might find it hard to be unbiased if an artist they admire highlights a particular track.

Despite everything going on, Taylor Swift has still shared what she considers to be her favorite track from her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. The album was released on October 3rd and has largely received positive feedback. As most fans know, Taylor Swift consistently delivers high-quality music.

Naturally, all the songs on the album are worthwhile. It’s possible Swift’s personal favorite could evolve as time passes. She may gain deeper appreciation for each song, considering its meaning and creation, and grow to love them even more.

Taylor Swift lets fans know her favorite song on The Life of a Showgirl

Currently, NBC News reports that the singer believes “Wi$h Li$t” is the strongest song on the album. Interestingly, it was the last track finished, yet it’s listed as No. 8 on the album’s tracklist.

Swift explained, “I believe it’s likely ‘Wishlist.’ It was the very last song we finished for the album, and when it was done, I felt a sense of completion – like we had achieved everything we set out to do. It’s a very ethereal and romantic track; it describes the various goals and dreams people have. The chorus then shares her personal aspirations.”

The song’s chorus goes like this: “I just want you, huh/Everyone on the street is starting to look like you/We ask the world to leave us alone, and surprisingly, they do/I’m picturing a dream driveway with a basketball hoop/Time to grow up and settle down, I’ve got a wish list (List)I just want you.”

Naturally, fans-or Swifties-believe the chorus (and possibly the whole song) centers around Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce. They got engaged earlier this year, though they’ve been together for two years. Considering the songs filled with love and admiration on The Life of a Showgirl, it’s reasonable to think they all describe the relationship between Kelce and Swift.

However, some songs appear to be about entirely different topics. For example, “Actually Romantic” could be a diss track aimed at Charli XCX. This is thought to be a response to Charli’s own criticism of Taylor Swift, expressed in her 2024 song, “Sympathy is a Knife.”
