Taylor Swift Addresses Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy Breakups in Eras Tour Comment: ‘Men Will Let You Down’

Taylor Swift is preparing to marry Travis Kelce, but her journey to finding him wasn’t easy. After several past relationships, she’s often expressed her feelings through her music. Now, a look behind the scenes of her incredibly popular Eras Tour is offering insights into her thoughts on the disappointing moments following her breakups with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, describing those experiences as things that ‘let her down’.

Taylor Swift makes brief remarks about Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy breakups

The newest installment of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour documentary, released on December 19th, features the singer discussing how she’s often been seen as a brand rather than an individual. This has caused her to reflect on her career, though she credits it with helping her overcome challenges. During the documentary, she also rarely opened up about her relationships with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, which both ended in 2023, early in her world tour. This marked the first time she publicly addressed the breakups, despite having written about them in songs on her album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Taylor Swift shared in the docu-series that at times, the tour was the only thing helping her through a difficult period in her life. However, she clarified that she never considered stopping the tour because it was demanding; her personal struggles were the real reason she considered giving up.

She talked about how breaking up with both Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy impacted her. She admitted it was a difficult time, saying, “I experienced two breakups during the first half of this tour, which is a lot to handle.” But she found strength and motivation through her work. She explained that performing and touring gave her a reason to keep going, saying, “This tour gave me purpose and helped me cope with everything else that was happening. It wasn’t the difficult part – it actually helped me find meaning when I really needed it.”

Okay, seriously, her closing line? It absolutely destroyed me in the best way. She said, ‘Men will let you down, the Eras Tour never will,’ and I swear, the whole stadium just lost it. It’s going to be on everything – t-shirts, posters, tattoos, everything! It’s just…so true. The Eras Tour understands me better than anyone, honestly. It’s a mood, a lifestyle, a promise! I’m already framing it, I think.
