In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Japanese publishing house Fukuinkan Shoten has unveiled a unique surprise for the beloved novel “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” one of Hayao Miyazaki’s and Studio Ghibli’s most acclaimed and renowned anime films.
Tatsuya Endo, famed creator of “SPY×FAMILY”, has drawn a unique cover for the paperback edition of the first Kiki’s book in the bunko series. This exclusive cover will be available starting from February 3rd for a limited period.
According to ANN’s report, Endo conveyed his excitement about being involved in the project, as he has been a devoted admirer of “Kiki’s Delivery Service.” He shared that this story carries a special significance for him, remarking, “It’s a work I’ve cherished for a while.” Moreover, he mentioned that the chance to work on a witch-themed project further increased his enthusiasm.
I am honored to have created an illustration for the special cover commemorating the 40th anniversary of “Kiki’s Delivery Service.” This has always been one of my favorite works, and as someone who has drawn many comics featuring witches, it is particularly meaningful for me. I am very happy to have had this opportunity as a fan of witches.
