Tarot Ending Explained: How Does Paxton Survive Amid The Terrifying Death Attacks On All The Friends?

As a longtime fan of horror movies, I must say that Tarot has left me absolutely spellbound! This supernatural slasher masterfully weaves together elements of suspense, mystery, and terror, all while maintaining a gripping narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Starting this month, you can stream the 2024 movie “Tarot,” which hit theaters under Sony Pictures in May, right here on Netflix. This intriguing film, penned and helmed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, is an adaptation of Nicholas Adams’ 1992 novel, “Horrorscope.”

“Tarot is a horror film where a group of students at college find themselves pursued by sinister occult entities once they unearth an ancient Tarot deck within an isolated mansion. The movie primarily revolves around their struggle as they confront fatal repercussions, with only a select few making it through until the end.”

Here’s a simple breakdown of the plot:

A group of seven college companions – Haley, Grant, Paxton, Paige, Madeline, Lucas, and Elise – leased a grand house in the forest to mark Elise’s birthday celebration. However, even though their friends think that Haley and Grant were an ideal pair, Haley is yet to overcome the aftermath of their separation following their recent breakup.

As they delve into the grand mansion, they stumble upon an antique Tarot set. With a hint of hesitation, Haley consents to interpret their destinies. Each companion picks a card bearing a distinct caution, preparing the groundwork for the chilling supernatural ordeal that follows.

As someone who has been through my fair share of trials and tribulations, I would say that each tarot card reading offers a unique insight into one’s journey.

At college, the friends started mysteriously dying, each death eerily resembling predictions made in their horoscopes. Elise met a tragic end when a falling ladder pinned her down, and Lucas was hit by a train. In desperation, they turned to Alma Astron for answers. She unveiled that the college deck had been cursed centuries ago by an astrologer. The only solution to lift this curse was to destroy the very deck where their friends were meeting their untimely ends.

As they leave Alma’s home, Madeline meets a tragic end at the hands of The Hanged Man following a frightful escape. Convinced that the curse is authentic, Haley, Grant, and Paige decide to revisit the mansion to dispose of the tarot cards, while Paxton chooses to remain in his dorm instead.

At the grand estate, the companions make an effort to set the playing cards ablaze, yet they stubbornly refuse to ignite. Alma endeavors to perform a rite for contacting the astrologer, but meets her untimely demise during the process. Paige too falls victim to The Magician, who captures and saws her within a confined box.

As a seasoned card reader with years of experience under my belt, I find myself intrigued by this tale of Haley and Grant. The way the story unfolds, with its elements of mysticism and fate, resonates deeply with me as someone who has dabbled in tarot reading myself.

Regarding Paxton, the film doesn’t definitively reveal his destiny. While it implies he might have met his end in the elevator, the details are murky, allowing room for speculation or possible further plot twists.

In the concluding part of the movie “Tarot,” Haley and Grant are depicted strolling towards town, only to be rescued by their acquaintance, Paxton, who astonishingly managed to live through his initial assault. The movie makes it clear that this was possible because just as the Fool mysteriously disappeared, Paxton’s roommate opened the elevator doors. This rule, which states that attacks only work when there’s isolation, is subtly introduced in the final moments, offering a rationale for Paxton’s unexpected survival.

The movie titled “Tarot” has shown impressive results at the box office, raking in a total of $49 million globally with an initial investment of only $8 million. In fact, on its very first day of streaming, it managed to secure a spot among Netflix’s Top 10 Movies.

The spine-chilling horror film is now available for streaming on Netflix.
