Good news for Kill Bill fans! This December, Lionsgate is releasing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair as one complete film on December 5th. This means you can finally watch the entire story without stopping!
This film presents both original parts as a single, flowing story. It eliminates the suspenseful cliffhanger that ended Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (from 2003) and also removes the introductory recap sequence found at the beginning of Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (released in 2004).
This latest version features a brand-new, 7½-minute animated segment. Select screenings will be shown in 70mm or 35mm film, allowing viewers to enjoy the movie in a large, traditional cinematic format.
Tarantino has talked about adding animated footage since as early as San Diego Comic-Con in 2014.
“I envisioned and created this as a single film, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with fans in that complete form,” Tarantino explained. “To truly experience Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, the ideal way is to see it on the big screen – preferably in stunning 70mm or 35mm. It’s all about seeing the action and intensity in its full, glorious detail!”
Lionsgate is distributing the film and also holds the rights to Quentin Tarantino’s existing movies, such as Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Death Proof.
The film centers on Uma Thurman playing The Bride. She’s violently attacked by her ex-lover and former employer, Bill, while she’s preparing for her wedding.
Having been left for dead and tragically losing her baby, she embarks on a quest for vengeance. This journey involves tracking down the surviving members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, ultimately leading to a confrontation with Bill. The first two films in the series collectively grossed $333 million globally.
The film features Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine as Bill. Lawrence Bender was the producer, and Quentin Tarantino both wrote and directed the movie, drawing inspiration from a character he created, The Bride.
