Tango Gameworks Weighs Hi-Fi Rush Sequel but Eyes Fresh Opportunities

As a longtime fan who has seen Tango Gameworks evolve from ‘The Evil Within’ to the rhythm-action masterpiece that is ‘Hi-Fi Rush’, I am both excited and cautiously optimistic about the possibility of a sequel. The passion these developers have for their IPs, coupled with their innate desire to push boundaries and create fresh experiences, is truly inspiring.

Tango Gameworks, famous for ‘Hi-Fi Rush,’ is contemplating the possibility of creating a follow-up title. According to studio head Colin Mack, they are considering this concept in a favorable light, though a final decision has not been made as of now.

According to Director John Johanas, there’s a lot of affection among the team for ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ and its cast. He expressed his desire to preserve this intellectual property (IP). Yet, they are also investigating other prospects. Johanas emphasizes the significance of experimenting with new ideas, an approach that resulted in creating ‘Hi-Fi Rush’, following their previous project, ‘The Evil Within.’

As a gamer, I’m always striving to bring fresh, innovative experiences to life, just like what Tango Gameworks has in its DNA. While our latest project, ‘Hi-Fi Rush,’ was well-received as a new IP, I know we can’t rest on our laurels. If we stick to the same formula, we risk becoming outdated. My goal is to keep our team excited and eager to take on new challenges, so we can continue pushing boundaries in gaming.

Hi-Fi Rush’s director says “I want to cherish this IP” under the new owner.

Following Microsoft’s closure of Tango Gameworks, Krafton stepped in to purchase the studio. At that moment, a follow-up to ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ was still in its infancy. Maria Park, Krafton’s head of corporate development, hinted at their intentions to surpass fans’ expectations. They are contemplating enriching the game world with more dynamic elements, potentially incorporating open-world aspects, and refining the rhythm-action gameplay for improved synchronization.

To put it simply, although discussions about a ‘Hi-Fi Rush 2’ are ongoing, Tango Gameworks is also investigating numerous possibilities. They prioritize creativity and aim to maintain their work as fresh and engaging as possible. Fans can expect intriguing new adventures from this studio in the time to come.
