‘Taking Baby Steps’: Heartstopper Actor Kit Connor Shares How His Closeness With Co-Star Joe Locke Made Shooting Intimate Scenes Easier

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for emerging trends and an appreciation for authentic storytelling, I must say that the journey of Kit Connor and Joe Locke, as portrayed through their characters Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring on Netflix’s Heartstopper, is truly captivating. Their on-screen chemistry and the raw emotion they bring to the table are a testament to their dedication and growth as actors.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, actor Kit Connor, starring as Nick Nelson on Netflix’s Heartstopper, shared that season three will feature even more heated moments! To accomplish this, they plan to film extended intimate scenes for a steamier experience. Fortunately, working alongside the same intimacy coordinator and being comfortable with co-star Joe Locke, who portrays Charlie Spring, helps make the process smoother and less intimidating.

As a committed cast member, I’ve been gradually acclimating to each new step. The actor disclosed that having the same intimacy coach from the initial season was instrumental in my progression. In the first season, he would be there, making sure we felt at ease holding hands. Now, we’re venturing into more intimate scenes. Connor shared this with the media outlet. Although not all clips have aired on the show, we filmed footage for the creators. “We filmed sex scenes for approximately seven hours!” he exclaimed.

Heartstopper catapulted both Connor and Locke into prominence, amassing vast fan bases in the process. However, stardom comes with its challenges, and these actors have had their fair share of struggles adjusting to their sudden fame. In an interview, Connor revealed that being recognized in public leaves him feeling exposed or vulnerable, saying he feels “a bit naked.” He also mentioned that a casual walk down Oxford Street on a weekend morning is no longer feasible because of the increased attention they now receive.

Looking forward to Connor’s first appearance on Broadway playing Romeo opposite Rachel Zegler as Juliet. He intends to concentrate more on delivering a stellar performance rather than being preoccupied with his growing fame.

Heartstopper is a heartwarming tale about a unique love relationship between Charlie, a thoughtful and openly gay individual, and Nick, a friendly and compassionate rugby player. According to the official summary, they find themselves in an unexpected situation where they must attend a lecture together. This encounter uncovers something deeper than friendship between them.

2023 saw Connor pondering over his journey of openly identifying as bisexual, a decision influenced by social media. He expressed, “To be honest, I don’t spend much time thinking about it, which is great.” The actor felt he had talked extensively about the matter and shared all that needed to be said, making it appropriate to focus on other aspects now.

Heartstopper season three will premiere on Netflix on October 3, 2024.
