Interact With the Shrine and Talk With Kendall

The adventure begins by approaching a Forlorn Shrine situated close to the Deserted Village in Horns of the South. Upon approaching this shrine, the spirit of Kendall, a former Commander of the Keepers, appears. Kendall shares that he was viciously attacked and killed by outlaws right at that location. Since then, he’s been trapped at the shrine, haunting it. He requests your help in recovering his remains and delivering them to Berg, his comrade and ally. Approach the shrine again to find Kendall’s leftover bones, specifically his skull.

Talk to Berg, the Keeper

Gather the remains and locate Berg, the Guardian, who resides in a village situated far west by the seashore. Consult Berg to uncover details about the day Kendall met his demise. It transpires that the outlaws were responsible for Kendall’s death while he was with his colleagues, Berg, Tagdan, and Finley. In exchange for their lives, they surrendered Kendall, leaving him fatally wounded. Since the tragic event, Berg has been tormented by Kendell’s spectral presence. Berg implores you to persuade Kendall to grant forgiveness. Upon doing so, you will be presented with two possibilities:

  • Give the Kendall skull to Berg to get what he deserves.
  • Talk to Kendall to spare his life by forgiving his mistake. 

Return to Kendall at the Shrine

After chatting with Tagdan and Finley for extra insights about the recent happenings (if you wish), then proceed back to Kendall at the shrine once you’ve settled things with Berg. Giving the skull to Berg will bring tranquility to Kendall, allowing you to utilize the shrine. Alternatively, if you persuade Kendall to forgive Berg, he’ll cease his haunting. Lastly, sparing Berg means you can meet him later to collect Berg’s Ring as a token of gratitude.
