Just prior to your departure from the Island Asylum, Caradoc provides you with guidance to locate Breandán, who is the captain of the Keepers. After completing several tasks that will help you trace him down, he’ll reveal that if you eliminate Galahad for him, he’ll disclose the way to obtain Excalibur. This information will allow him to carry out a coup and seize complete control over the Keepers.
Before leaving Island Asylum, Caradoc helps you find Breandán, the leader of the Keepers. After accomplishing some tasks to locate him, he’ll say that he’ll show you how to get Excalibur if you kill Galahad for him, which will help Caradoc take over the Keepers completely by staging a coup.
You’re not obligated to do so, but when you encounter Galahad, you could choose to disclose details about Breandán’s scheme instead. We’ll clarify the potential outcomes associated with both choices and provide our recommended option.
If you kill Galahad
If you decide to carry out Breandán’s plan to eliminate Galahad, be aware that it won’t be an effortless task, given Galahad’s formidable strength at this stage of the game. He’s equipped with potent melee and ranged attacks. However, should you succeed, you’ll acquire some highly effective weapons and armor from his person. Yet, keep in mind that Galahad’s squires will swiftly become hostile upon your success and will pursue you vigorously.
Following the success of Breandán’s coup, he will emerge as one of your primary allies for the remainder of the game.
If you tell Galahad about the plot to kill him
Galahad asks for your assistance as he launches an attack against Breandán and Dal Riata, and he departs right away.
Make your way to Breandán’s hideout at Dal Riata’s camp, as you arrive, you’ll find that the Dal Riata have been brutally wiped out, effectively eliminating them from further involvement – remember to wrap up any unfinished business with them beforehand. Following this, you’ll need to help Galahad’s knights in a tough skirmish against the rampaging berserkers guarding the temple. Once victorious, venture inside and uncover that Galahad has slain Breandán.
Later on, Galahad will explain to you the process for activating Excalibur and designate Faerghas as the new captain among the Keepers, a position he will approach with great responsibility.
Should you kill or spare Galahad?
If you’re engaging in combat while wearing heavy gear, then at this stage of the game, Galahad’s armor proves quite effective. However, it demands a fair bit of strength to wield, making him an appealing target for elimination, considering the potential rewards. On the other hand, Breandán seems questionable in terms of honesty and reliability, suggesting that allying with him might bring future complications. Despite his flaws, Galahad is a formidable ally who has remained faithful to King Arthur. If you’re leaning towards supporting the king, aligning with Galahad could prove beneficial.
After dealing with Galahad, whichever option you choose, you’ll have to enter the Sunken City next.
