Tainted Grail I See A Darkness: Should you let Abhartach bite you?

The realm of Tainted Grail carries an ominous and somber ambiance, so it’s hardly unexpected that those who eke out a living here don’t enjoy perfect unity. As you arrive at the village situated west of the Horns of the South castle, you’ll find the residents embroiled in chaos.

You can initiate “I See A Darkness” by engaging in conversation with a widow who is positioned before a man enclosed within a cage. She will share that he’s been affected by an unusual condition, and following your dialogue, you’ll be tasked with the mission of locating and eliminating the source of this affliction.

Entering the dream

Upon reaching the mission icon, you’ll stumble upon a camp. Slay the undead creature known as the corpse eater at this location. Afterward, rest in the sleeping bag to initiate the subsequent phase of the quest. Keep in mind that only the sleeping bag can be used for resting; sitting by a campfire won’t advance the storyline.

In your moments of rest, you’ll find yourself in a dreamlike realm where Abhartach resides. They assert that they can heal those who are troubled, but at the cost of a single bite from your body, it’s understandable to feel uneasy about such an offer.

Should you let Abhartach bite you?

If Abhartach bites you, you’ll sustain some harm, but don’t worry because it will instantly perish, as it seems that their kind are fatally affected by the poison in Arthur’s blood.

Declining will initiate a showdown with Abhartach, but don’t be alarmed by its brevity. Their fatigue will limit them to only one assault, after which you’ll have the chance for a decisive blow to conclude the battle.

Regardless of how you approach it, your reward and the experience gained remains unchanged with Abhartach. Upon your return to the village, Mahon will be healed, however, Col will still be ill.

This version tries to simplify the original sentence, making it easier for readers to understand the outcome regardless of the path chosen in the quest.

Should you kill Col?

Players who possess high Spirituality can unlock additional dialogue at the end of this mission, allowing you to persuade Betrys to alleviate Col’s suffering by ending his life. Please note that killing Col is still considered illegal, so be sure to act covertly. Successfully completing this task will grant you a slightly enhanced reward for finishing the quest, including additional gold and experience points.
