In Tainted Grail, the central conflict is intricate, with each significant character and group interpreting it differently. However, when the decisive moment arrives, it’s all up to you to determine the fate of King Arthur’s power, which ultimately shapes the destiny of Avalon in the game’s conclusion.
From my perspective as an ardent fan, it seems that Tainted Grail offers a staggering 12 unique conclusions, each one hinging on your chosen path for wielding the power. Let’s delve into each of these captivating endings to fully grasp their intricacies.
Use the Life Spindle – Tainted Grail’s best ending
In contrast to other game conclusions that often leave questions unanswered, this finale undeniably presents a favorable outcome for Avalon, thereby emerging as the most satisfying ending in the game.
To put it simply, when you say “I’m going to utilize the Life Spindle”, it gives you the power to subdue the Wyrdness. However, before that can happen, you must first overcome Caradoc in a fight. Interestingly, Caradoc aims to destroy it instead. Once you defeat him, Arthur’s soul will return to its proper place, and the Red Death will cease, allowing the world to start mending from all the harm inflicted upon it.
Orrin’s ending – Resurrect Arthur
If you decide to disregard Caradoc and Arthur (the man) in this situation, you’re choosing to make a personal sacrifice that could potentially bring King Arthur back to the throne. The outcome of his rule is uncertain for you – you’ll need to accept the consequences of your decision. In this conclusion, you’ll also face a battle against Caradoc.
Caradoc’s ending – Kill Arthur
In this scenario, Caradoc can only accept one particular outcome, making it the only choice that won’t require a battle with him – except if you chose to eliminate him during the tutorial, which would rule out this specific option completely.
After completing the last fight with King Arthur, Avalon will peer into an uncertain future. This could mean that the cycle is finally broken, giving hope for the darkness to dissipate. However, it remains unclear which powers will step up and occupy the vacant position of power in the years ahead.
Take Arthur’s power for yourself
Why rely on others to wield this power when you could claim it for your own self? In this scenario, you’ll face off against both Caradoc and King Arthur, who disapprove of your choice. However, if you manage to overcome them, you’ll seize control of Avalon, a victory that depends on your actions. The outcome may vary, but one thing is certain: you could likely secure a more lavish abode than the player homes in Tainted Grail.
Bestow someone else with Arthur’s power
In the realm of Avalon, numerous individuals seem capable of wielding the authority to rule. You have the freedom to bestow this power upon any of them, but keep in mind that each character may come with specific criteria for obtaining them. As of now, we’ve identified eight potential choices, each employing unique strategies in governance. Regardless of whom you choose, remember that both Caradoc and King Arthur will present challenges you must overcome.
Captain Breandan
Breandan as king will see faith fade in Avalon as industry and trade take priority.
Erfyr the Blacksmith
In this new society that Erfyr is building, everyone is treated equally as per the communist ideology. Yet, it seems that those who held power previously continue to manipulate things subtly, operating from behind the scenes.
Lord Yvain
Yvain will fail as a king, being assassinated and creating a huge power vacuum in Avalon.
One-Eye
Under Dal Riata’s rule, Avalon experiences internal discord, yet the resilience of its tribal communities continues to flourish.
Gerd’hanr
Many in the world will embrace Gerd’hanr as king, but Kamelot will remain wary of him.
Fionola
In simpler terms, Fionola is planning to establish a realm where the enigmatic force known as Wyrdness prevails. This realm would enable individuals to intertwine with this force and assume a fresh identity – an option that not all people are comfortable embracing.
Child of Morgan
The realm will be at peace, but at the cost of autonomy and freedom within the kingdom.
Beggar
If you wish to completely defy destiny, you could choose to bestow rulership upon any common beggar instead. However, this act might lead to a power vacuum in Avalon, ultimately causing it to collapse and fall into disarray.
