Sydney Sweeney recently opened up about becoming more confident, admitting it wasn’t always easy. In an interview with Us Weekly on March 12, the 28-year-old actress shared that she used to be very insecure about her body.
She explained that growing up faster than other girls was particularly difficult – she needed a 32DD bra size by sixth grade. During that time, she felt like she wanted to hide instead of be noticed, and struggled to find clothes that fit well.
“I never had anything I felt good in, and I just wanted to hide,” she said, recalling her childhood. Her perspective started to change when she played Cassie Howard on the HBO show Euphoria.
Taking on a role where her character struggled with being seen helped Sweeney discover the power of self-confidence. She realized that believing in yourself – and appreciating your body – is truly empowering.
This insight inspired her to encourage others to accept and love their bodies. However, even as her own confidence grew, she found it frustrating that many clothes weren’t comfortable or supportive. She often dealt with straps digging in or irritating fabrics. These experiences ultimately led her to create her own lingerie brand, SYRN, which launched earlier this year.
Sydney Sweeney put a lot of work into designing her new clothing line, carefully researching every detail with a large collection of inspiration images. She wanted to create clothes for all body types and worked with a diverse team to achieve that. “I want to see it on everybody,” she told Cosmopolitan, explaining her desire for the line to make every woman feel confident. Beyond her successful SYRN line, which quickly sold out after launching in January, Sweeney has been very busy in Hollywood. Her thriller, The Housemaid, starring alongside Amanda Seyfried, was a major success after its release in December 2025. Critics loved her performance as Millie, a character with a complicated history, and a sequel is already being planned.
Beyond her work in thrillers, the actress recently transformed her physique for a film about boxer Christy Martin. She built muscle and adopted a ’90s mullet to convincingly play the sports icon’s journey to success, a role she premiered late last year.
She also appeared in the Apple TV+ series Echo Valley alongside Julianne Moore, and there’s talk she may have a significant part in a future Star Wars project. Balancing her acting career with her business ventures, she’s determined to control her own story.
She’s responded to criticism about her career choices, emphasizing that she makes them for herself and that taking ownership of one’s body is a powerful act of self-love. By turning her past struggles into a source of empowerment for others, she’s demonstrating her influence goes beyond just acting.
