Paul Feig, the director behind popular comedies like Bridesmaids and The Heat, recently directed the film The Housemaid. He told LADbible that he felt most uneasy on set while filming the movie’s more intimate moments.
This new thriller, with Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, has more action and intensity than the director’s previous films.
Feig admitted he felt uneasy directing the intimate scenes, but he was impressed by how comfortable and professional his actors were. He said, “I’m usually the most hesitant when filming those types of scenes, but my cast was incredibly open-minded and relaxed.” He also praised intimacy coordinator Lizzy for guiding the process and making sure everyone felt safe and respected.
The actors also spoke about their experience working with Feig. Sweeney described him as a “very thoughtful, kind, and considerate filmmaker” and added that his nervousness on set was actually charming.

Seyfried noted that actors are often used to performing stunts and intimate scenes, but Feig always prioritized the cast’s well-being. She remembered him frequently saying, “Please be careful, and feel free to skip anything you’re not comfortable with.”
Brandon Sklenar emphasized how well everyone worked together. He explained, “We all felt really comfortable, mostly because Paul is such a warm and kind person.” He also pointed out that the fact that Paul Feig seemed more nervous than the actors showed how much he cared, and ultimately helped make the scenes successful.
Filming for The Housemaid was incredibly fast-paced, completed in only 34 days with approximately 200 scenes. Despite the tight schedule, the director, actors, and intimacy coordinator worked well together to ensure a safe and professional set.
The Housemaid is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 19.
