Sydney Sweeney could face legal issues after a bold marketing move for her lingerie brand, Syrn. The actress from Euphoria climbed the Hollywood sign at night and hung a line of bras across it to generate excitement. However, TMZ reports that she didn’t get permission to do so, which could lead to trouble.
Sweeney received permission to film near the Hollywood Sign through FilmLA, but this permit didn’t allow her to physically interact with the sign without getting additional approval from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. According to CEO Steve Nissen, the production wasn’t authorized and the Chamber wasn’t aware it was happening. He clarified that the Chamber owns the rights to the sign’s image and requires a license or permission for any commercial use.

Her production company, Persuasion Pictures, filmed the playful act as a promotion for Syrn, a company supported by the investment firm Coatue – known for its connections to high-profile figures like Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Coatue even hosted Sweeney at Bezos and Sánchez’s lavish wedding in Venice last year.
Although police aren’t currently investigating, Sydney Sweeney might be charged with trespassing or vandalism due to a recent incident. This happened as she’s enjoying success with her hit thriller, The Housemaid, which has earned over $250 million globally. In the film, Sweeney plays Millie Calloway, a housekeeper who discovers hidden secrets within a rich family, and a second movie is already in the works.
Even though it could have legal consequences, Sweeney is determined to take risks with her work and career. Everyone in Hollywood is watching to see if her recent stunt with the Hollywood sign will help her become more famous or get her into legal trouble.
