Sydney Sweeney Joined ‘Madame Web’ to Help Get ‘Anyone But You’ Greenlit by Sony

As a fan who has witnessed Sydney Sweeney‘s meteoric rise in Hollywood, I must say I’m truly impressed by her dedication and strategic thinking. Her decision to take on a supporting role in the lackluster Madame Web to help greenlight Anyone But You, a film that ultimately outperformed it significantly, showcases an unwavering commitment to her craft and her team.

Sydney Sweeney has become widely recognized for her performances in HBO’s series Euphoria (2019-ongoing) and The White Lotus (2021), which led to two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. In the year 2023, she portrayed Reality Winner in the movie titled Reality and shone in the popular romantic comedy, Anyone But You.

In 2024, she made an appearance in the superhero film “Madame Web”, and not only did she act in it but also served as its producer. Additionally, she played a role in the horror movie titled “Immaculate”.

The movie Madame Web was met with negative reviews by critics and struggled at the box office, managing to earn just $100.5 million globally on a budget of $80 million. Conversely, the film Anyone But You raked in a staggering $120 million more than Madame Web.

As reported by THR, a source suggests that Sydney Sweeney took on a supporting role in Madame Web to aid in the approval of Anyone But You. The source from Sony Pictures stated that she wanted to demonstrate her dedication to the team. Remarkably, even though Madame Web underperformed, Sweeney still received $750,000 for her part.

Prior to these movies, she had previously featured in the biographical film titled “Reality“, portraying whistleblower Reality Winner. This film was a low-budget drama for which she received $65,000 in remuneration.
