According to a recent report, there’s tension between Euphoria actresses Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya, reportedly due to disagreements about politics.
Rift Over Trump Support
Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya became friends while working together on the HBO series Euphoria, and Sweeney used to call Zendaya “Z.” However, recent reports in The Daily Mail suggest their friendship has suffered because they disagree politically.
Okay, so the buzz is that Sydney Sweeney, 28, is a pretty outspoken supporter of Donald Trump – a proud Republican, they say. Apparently, this has created some tension with her Euphoria co-star, Zendaya, 29, who’s been very vocal against Trump. I remember Zendaya actually posted a pretty fiery message on Instagram back in 2020, urging people to vote Trump out with some, shall we say, strong language. It sounds like their political views are pretty far apart, and it’s causing some friction behind the scenes.

Refusing to Appear Together
According to a new report, Zendaya is reportedly no longer willing to do interviews with Sydney Sweeney to promote the upcoming season of Euphoria. Sources say Zendaya doesn’t want to appear to support Sweeney’s political views.
As a big fan of Zendaya, I feel like she’s in a really tough spot right now. It seems like anything she does – even just standing near Sydney Sweeney at an event – could be twisted to look like she’s supporting Sweeney’s political views or excusing that really problematic ad. It’s unfair, but that’s how it’s being perceived, and it puts Zendaya in an awkward position.
The term “racist ad” describes the criticism Jaida Sweeney faced after starring in an American Eagle jeans commercial. Many people felt the ad was insensitive and didn’t understand the cultural context.

No Love Lost
This disagreement represents a significant change for the two actors, who were once close friends while filming the first seasons of Euphoria. Sources say that, in addition to differing political views, they now actively avoid each other at events and have maintained their distance during promotion for the new season.

Christy Bombs
News of the disagreement comes as Sweeney’s new film, Christy, isn’t doing well in theaters. The movie, which tells the life story of boxer Christy Martin, hasn’t attracted many viewers despite a lot of initial publicity.
Sweeney shared a touching post on Instagram, expressing that she’ll always cherish the memory of Christy. She praised the dedication and strength of the film’s cast and crew, calling it a privilege to play Christy Martin. She also highlighted that the movie represents overcoming challenges with bravery and optimism.
Sweeney emphasized that even though the film wasn’t a financial success, its positive impact was what truly mattered. She explained that it brought attention to the issue of domestic violence and could empower women to seek help and find their strength. She stated that creating art isn’t always about profits, and called the film her most meaningful career achievement.
