Summary
- The Internet’s Syd released a new single, “GMFU,” produced by Rodney Jerkins and featuring Raphael Saadiq
- The track, which contrasts with her recent single “Die For This,” calls out an ex over an organ melody
- The release coincides with Syd joining Renee Rapp on her fall US tour
Syd, the Grammy-winning artist from the band The Internet, has released a new song called “GMFU.” It’s available now through Free Lunch and Warner Records.
Rodney Jerkins, a highly respected producer, crafted the track, with Raphael Saadiq providing the bassline. “GMFU” showcases Syd’s versatile vocals – she moves effortlessly between a soft, high-pitched tone and a direct, assertive delivery – as she addresses a former partner over a classic organ sound. It’s a different vibe than her earlier summer release, “Die For This,” which was a more melancholic love song.
I’m so excited! Syd just announced she’s going on tour with Renee Rapp this fall! They’re hitting a bunch of cities across the US, like New York, Boston, Minneapolis, Portland, and San Francisco, starting in late September and going through mid-October. It’s going to be amazing!
