Nintendo has formally declared the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch Pro, scheduled for 2025. This new console maintains its hybrid structure, enabling us to enjoy playtime either connected to a TV or portable. The Switch Pro boasts a larger display and revamped Joy-Con controllers that adhere magnetically, improving our gaming adventures.
In the video announcement, Nintendo hinted at a fresh take on the classic game, Mario Kart (as you can see in the video below). They didn’t clarify whether it’s an entirely new chapter or an upgraded version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but the visuals and character designs looked refreshed, featuring familiar faces like Mario, Bowser, and Donkey Kong.
With much anticipation, it’s been whispered that the latest edition of Mario Kart might accommodate as many as 24 players at once, surpassing the prior online cap of 12. Such an expansion could lead to even more exhilarating and cutthroat competitions.
It’s been verified that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will support playing previous Switch games, whether they are physical copies or downloaded digitally. In other words, you’ll still be able to enjoy your existing game collection on the brand-new console.

If you’re excited for more information, Nintendo intends to disclose further details during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on April 2, 2025. After that, there are scheduled hands-on events in various cities such as London from April 11 to 13 and Madrid from May 9 to 11, where you can get a firsthand experience of the Switch 2.
Although the specific launch date and cost for the next-gen Nintendo Switch haven’t been revealed yet, excitement surrounding it continues to grow.
