‘Survivor’ Season 49 Ends with a New Crowned Winner

Survivor’s 49th season concluded with a thrilling finale and a new winner, following a season packed with unexpected twists and tough competitions.

Savannah Louie won the $1 million prize and was named the “sole survivor” in the season finale on December 17th. The season was filled with drama, including a scary incident where contestant Jake Latimer had to be removed from the competition after being bitten by a poisonous snake.

The final tribal council saw Savannah Louie, Sophi Belerdi, and Sage Ahrens-Nichols answer questions from the jury – the players they had previously eliminated from the game. Earlier, Kristina Mills and Rizo Velovic had been voted out, leaving just these three women to compete for the win.

Savannah won after receiving votes from the other players and shared the moment with host Jeff Probst. “It feels incredible—it’s surreal,” she said, clearly overwhelmed. “I’m usually pretty good with words, but right now, I’m speechless.” She continued, “I’ve never felt anything like this before. It’s just amazing.”

This season made history with the first all-female top three finalists since 2014. The final jury then asked each of the remaining players to explain how they strategically navigated the game, overcame challenges, and ultimately survived to the end.

Things got awkward when Kristina asked Savannah to identify a loved one for each member of the jury, and Savannah couldn’t do it. Earlier in the season, Steven Ramm was unexpectedly voted out despite having a special advantage to protect his vote. This happened because Sage had formed strong alliances with Savannah, Rizo, and Sophi.

With season 49 finished, excitement is building for Survivor 50, which will be called In the Hands of the Fans. Host Jeff Probst has revealed that several returning players will compete, including Mike White (from The White Lotus), past winners Dee Valladares (season 45) and Kyle Fraser (season 48), and Cirie Fields, a highly skilled player who has never won the game.

Cirie recently told E! News how thrilled she was to be part of the 50th season of the show, something she hasn’t felt about any other season. As a longtime fan – she’s been watching since the very first winner, Richard Hatch – she felt a special connection to this one. She enthusiastically called it “The best season ever. Best. Not just because I was there. Best. Season. Ever.”
