Big changes are coming to Elden Ring Nightreign! A new playable class, called the Scholar, has been announced. This class focuses on providing support from a distance, which should be a valuable asset during the challenging boss fights.
This character build focuses on someone deeply knowledgeable about Limveld. They’ve studied its plants, explored its ruins, and meticulously researched its history. This expertise grants them the power to weaken opponents and significantly strengthen their teammates.
The trailer showcases this dynamic with a character using a spell to halt a dangerous Nightlord and their followers. This creates an opening for two Nightfarers to successfully battle massive monsters of their own.
Now for the more interesting matchup: the Scholar versus the notorious Libra. The Scholar uses spells learned from a book they bring to the arena, which somehow makes it easier for their teammates to defeat Libra’s minions. While Scholars do have a cane for fighting up close, it doesn’t seem very durable – a video showed it breaking with just one hit from a large sword, so it’s best used only in desperate situations.
Like most FromSoftware releases, details are currently limited to what’s shown in the video. However, we won’t have to wait long to start planning character builds and exploring the capabilities of the Scholar class. It launches with the Undertaker class as part of the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on December 4th.
