Now that Superman has hit the big screen, there’s buzz about potential spin-offs in the works. These might feature characters like Mister Terrific and Jimmy Olsen, as well as Nathan Fillion‘s character, Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
As a passionate cinephile, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the upcoming Superman movie. According to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal, this film promises a sneak peek into James Gunn’s vision for the expansive DC universe. It seems we’ll be introduced to lesser-known superheroes like Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific, which I can’t wait to see!

Mister Terrific and Jimmy Olsen spinoffs being considered by Gunn
According to a well-informed source, the Wall Street Journal reports that Gunn may create television spin-offs featuring characters such as Mister Terrific and young newspaper journalist Jimmy Olsen.
As a passionate cinephile, let me express that Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific in the latest Superman movie is truly one of the standout characters for me. Similarly, I can confidently say that Skyler Gisondo’s portrayal of Jimmy Olsen might just be the best version we’ve ever witnessed on screen.
The possibility of spin-offs suggests that Gunn will keep growing the DC Universe, encompassing shows like Supergirl, Clayface, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and Batman as well.
Nathan Fillion’s next stop is Lanterns
Concerning Nathan Fillon, he’s my top pick from the movies I’ve seen. Despite his rather eccentric haircut, Fillion delivers an outstanding performance in his role. If you’re acquainted with Gunn’s work or enjoy his style, there’s no need for an explanation. Characters like that are precisely what Gunn excels at creating.
It’s been announced earlier that Nathan Fillion reprises his role as Guy Gardner in the Lanterns series. However, Fillion himself has revealed that Guy Gardner appears alongside Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, and the language used by Guy Gardner is quite strong, which could suggest that the Lanterns series may receive an R rating.
In an interview with EW, Fillion stated, “Aaron has a voice as smooth as butter and stands tall like a marble statue. He’s incredibly precise about his character and the emotions it portrays. His character seems to be going through something profound. However, in this show, we have the charming, arrogant Guy Gardner who enters the scene. And let me tell you, Guy Gardner! I’ve sworn more times in that project than I ever have, perhaps even throughout my entire career.
In his initial interaction with John Pierre, Guy appears rather self-assured, Fillion noted. However, by the end of their encounter, it becomes evident that there’s a change in Guy. He’s no longer confident or smug. Instead, you can see the depth of John’s strength. Such an individual is truly strong, Fillion commented. As for Hal Jordan, I don’t share many scenes with him, but meeting Kyle, he exceeded all expectations. He’s friendly, approachable, and a joy to be around.
James Gunn’s Superman is now playing.
