Superman Sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Gets Release Date

As a dedicated Superman fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement on Wednesday when James Gunn revealed the highly anticipated title for the upcoming Superman movie sequel: “Man of Tomorrow.” Mark your calendars, as this iconic tale will soar into theaters on July 9, 2027.

Gun shared an artwork by Jim Lee depicting David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, both wearing the Watsuit.

“Man of Tomorrow. In theatres July 9, 2027,” said Gunn, who is writing and directing.

Man of Tomorrow not a direct sequel to Superman

It’s been clarified by Gunn that the upcoming film is not a direct continuation of the Superman saga, which has already grossed over $611 million at the box office.

I’ve completed my extensive treatments – they’re not your typical 60-page scripts with dialogue included! Now, I’m transitioning these detailed plans into a shooting script. We’re currently mapping out the timeline for filming, and I’m thrilled to share that it’s coming up quite soon, according to what I shared with Collider.

Gunn mentioned that they’re actively planning the sequel to Superman, and it won’t require much time before it enters the production phase.

According to Gunn, he has completed the initial planning for the upcoming story in what he refers to as the ‘Superman Saga’. This planning stage is now complete, meaning it’s thoroughly developed. He is currently working on this and expects to move into production on it soon, not too long after today.

Superman plays a significant part, contrary to what the title ‘Superman 2’ might suggest,” Gunn explained to fans on Threads. He further clarified, “I’m not entirely sure how you classify a ‘direct sequel.’ I consider Peacemaker Season 2 as being a direct sequel.
