As an ardent fan of these superbly crafted shows, it feels like a cruel twist of fate that we’ve almost missed out on the long-awaited crossover between Superman & Lois and Batwoman. The prospect of seeing Elizabeth Tulloch and Melissa Benoist share the screen was tantalizingly close, only to be snatched away by the relentless claws of COVID-19 restrictions and scheduling conflicts.
It’s surprising to consider the possibility of a joint appearance between Superman and Lois, along with Batwoman. However, Elizabeth Tulloch, the Lois Lane actress from The CW series, explained the reasons behind the non-occurrence of this crossover event.
According to an article from Comicbook, during her appearance at the San Francisco Fan Expo panel, Tulloch discussed the project. She explained that when filming started, the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were extremely tight, causing the concept to merely be a potential opportunity.
However, it wasn’t just the pandemic restrictions that led to the abandonment of the idea. It seems that the two proposed shows had distinct methods of production, a factor that presented its own set of challenges.
It seemed that, in addition to the Batwoman series, the Arrowverse team had another concept in mind. The actress mentioned that a tribute to Supergirl was initially included in the pilot of Superman & Lois, specifically a photo of Melissa Benoist (Supergirl’s star) with Tyler Hoechlin and Tulloch, which was meant to be on Lois’ desk, but it ended up being removed.
The performer stated, “That’s approximately when talks were going on about possibly excluding our group from the Arrowverse in general.
Viewers likely would have enjoyed the previously mentioned collaborations, and it’s unfortunate they won’t get to see their beloved actors perform in the series anymore since it’s set to depart from TV.
For those unfamiliar, Tulloch and Hoechlin’s debut series on The CW will conclude this Monday evening. In addition to Tulloch and Hoechlin, the show has starred Emmanuelle Chriqui, Alexander Garfin, Sofia Hasmik, Mike Bishop, Yvonne Chapman, Dylan Walsh, Michael Cudlitz, Joselyn Picard, Elizabeth Henstridge, Stacey Farber, Jordan Elsass, Inde Navarrette, and numerous others.
