In simple terms, despite James Gunn’s Superman movie doing well domestically in the US, its earnings from other countries around the world haven’t reached the same level yet.
Earlier, Gunn had noted the tepid reaction from abroad, yet, as discussed, his explanations for this seem rather weak.

Superman Passes $250M in U.S.
It emerged on a Wednesday that Superman had surpassed $250 million at the domestic box office, largely due to a robust attendance on discount Tuesdays.
Over the past weekend, the movie’s performance surpassed predictions a bit, as its box office drop was only 53.2%.
Speaking as a movie critic, I’m delighted to report that as of Tuesday, Superman has raked in approximately $253.2 million at the U.S. box office, outpacing The Batman by a slight margin with its $252.5 million within the same timeframe. Interestingly, Superman has been maintaining its momentum more effectively during weekdays. However, it’s worth noting that The Batman still leads in international earnings. With Marvel’s Fantastic Four set to debut this weekend, Superman may face a substantial dip in ticket sales.

Superman vs. Man of Steel: The Numbers Don’t Lie
Before delving into “The Batman”, let’s clarify a misleading comparison: Some promoters keep bringing up the box office earnings of “Superman” in relation to Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”, without accounting for inflation. This is clearly an effort to exaggerate the success of “Superman”.
12 years ago, I watched “Man of Steel” and let me tell you, it’s no walk in the park comparing it to Superman. Adjusted for inflation, this movie raked in a staggering $402,992,540.82 domestically and almost a billion dollars globally with $927,908,620.18. Keep in mind, it’s been 12 years since its release, so you have to account for inflation. When you look at the raw numbers, it’s clear that “Man of Steel” was seen by significantly more people, nearly doubling the viewership.
During a span of 12 days in the United States, the movie “Man of Steel” made approximately $304 million (when adjusted for inflation). Frankly, there’s no contest. Blogs and social media platforms that only share unqualified earnings figures for Superman are merely attempting to exaggerate its success. In reality, such practices are misleading and border on poor journalism.

No $500M Milestone Yet for Superman, Unlike The Batman
Moving forward with the topic of “The Batman” – Warner Bros appears to be taking its time in disclosing Superman’s international box office earnings. As of now, it looks like weekend updates are all we can expect for the time being.
In its second Wednesday, Superman earned approximately $250 million domestically, whereas The Batman had surpassed $500 million globally within the same time period, according to trade reports.
To equal what The Batman achieved, Superman would have had to bring in an additional $75 million internationally since Sunday, but it appears that The Batman did this effortlessly and Superman is not showing signs of doing the same.
This afternoon on the East Coast, it’s possible that the trades might compose an article concerning the box office earnings of the Superman movie before the day concludes.
