As mentioned in the videos I shared online last night, it’s undeniable that Superman surpasses the box office earnings of Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
DC vs. Marvel is back on!

Fandango: Superman Tops 2025 Ticket Sales, Beats Fantastic Four
Based on information from Fandango, it appears that James Gunn’s Superman has been gaining considerable traction. As a matter of fact, the early access screenings on July 8 through Amazon Prime have set a new record for the platform’s highest first-day ticket sales in 2025, surpassing every other film’s initial ticket sales, even Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that these Amazon screenings offered a restricted selection of cinemas, catering exclusively to IMAX and 3D viewings, if my understanding is correct.
Furthermore, I highlighted in my video that a quick look at movie ticket platforms demonstrates that Amazon’s Superman screenings are selling tickets, whereas the same isn’t observed for Fantastic Four.
Today marks the start of ticket sales for the highly anticipated movie, Superman, across all dates following the release of its final trailer. It’ll be intriguing to observe whether the seating will be fully booked or if die-hard fans are solely attending the screenings at Amazon. It seems both films rely on a large turnout from casual moviegoers to achieve box office success.
Strong Early Interest for Superman
According to a study conducted by Fandango, titled “2025 Moviegoing Trends & Insight Survey,” which included feedback from more than 5,000 movie enthusiasts, Gunn’s upcoming Man of Steel film has been voted as one of the most eagerly awaited movies of summer 2025.
According to the research findings, it’s clear that fans are eagerly anticipating Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of Lex Luthor. In a separate poll involving over 9,000 cinema-goers, Fandango listed Hoult’s performance among the most highly anticipated new acts of the year.
$100M Opening Buzz Begins
According to reports from Deadline, although there have been speculations about a potential opening weekend gross of $175 million for ‘Superman’, no official data has been shared yet. However, Deadline’s sources do indicate that early predictions and industry whispers point towards Superman potentially earning over $100 million in its domestic box office debut. If this holds true, it would place Superman among the top openings of the year.
Early Screenings Land July 8, General Release July 11
On July 8, which falls on a Monday, Amazon Prime members get an early chance to watch the movie “Superman”. General ticket purchases and the complete release are currently underway. You can now buy tickets via Fandango, as well as various apps and cinemas you prefer.
A special Father’s Day Hero Gift ticket set is also available, along with a Collector’s Bundle.
