Superman 2025: Epic Treasury Edition Brings Classic Heroism Back with Giant-Size Adventure!

Looking forward to James Gunn’s new Superman movie in July, Superman is set to have his biggest shine in years. However, we shouldn’t forget that it was the comics that first introduced Kal-El. This summer, DC Comics is launching “The Summer of Superman” across their Superman and related titles. Among them, Superman Treasury 2025 – Hero for All stands out. This special comic resembles the Treasury Edition comics from past decades, showcasing extraordinary tales of legendary heroes. Written by Dan Jurgens with art by Bruno Redondo and Adriano Lucas, here’s a sneak peek at Hero for All‘s artwork, as well as the official synopsis from DC Comics:

In an unprecedented assault, a ruthless alien extremist fleet attacks Earth, threatening global destruction. However, this invasion is lethal not only from the outside but also from within. This epic story demands grandeur, so it’s being presented in a colossal format (10 1/8″ x 13 5/16″) to honor the Superman Summer spectacularly! This essential one-shot boasts a cover by Redondo and includes visuals and details from the eagerly awaited DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Superman movie, as well as photo-themed variant covers, a cover designed by Dan Jurgens, and a captivating “allies and adversaries” variant cover by Scott Koblish.

Here’s a quote from writer and “Death of Superman” illustrator, Dan Jurgens, sharing his thoughts on this special edition:

Dan Jurgens, both writer and artist of the “Death of Superman”, shares some insights about working on this special edition:

Both versions convey the same information in a clear and easy-to-read manner.

Given Superman’s pivotal role in shaping our comic book world, it makes sense that the “Treasury Sized Edition” label would suit him best, as it always signified a unique and must-have project for me during my childhood. The majority of these projects were centered around Superman right from the beginning, starting with the groundbreaking collaboration in Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man, followed by Superman vs. Shazam, Superman vs. Wonder Woman, and one of the most remarkable comic book projects, Superman vs. Muhammad Ali. It was a privilege to extend that collection of Treasury Editions with Superman vs. the Fantastic Four in later years.

For our ongoing project, “Superman Treasury 2025 – Hero for All,” we’re striving to recreate the magic that made those iconic projects so dear to our hearts. Our tale is expansive, filled with action, drama, and a deeper exploration of Superman’s character, cementing his position as the DCU’s leading hero. The larger format allows our artist, Bruno Redondo (known for Nightwing), ample space to make this story truly pop off the page. He’s got a rich cast of characters and numerous dramatic moments at his disposal, and he’s pulling out all the stops to deliver an eye-catching visual experience that fans will adore. In essence, the ‘Treasury Sized Edition’ seems the ideal way to honor and commemorate this Summer of Superman.

It’s likely that the release of “Hero for All” will usher in a fresh wave of colossal Treasury Editions. There’s an undeniable charm to physically possessing a massive comic book, making it even more captivating. With a forthcoming DC/Marvel collaboration on the horizon, perhaps we can look forward to a larger-than-life reprise of “Superman vs. Spider-Man” in this format. As for now, “Superman Treasury 2025 – Hero for All” landed in comic book stores and digitally on July 2.
