The Supergirl trailer is taking over TikTok — literally.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. did something new with their marketing: the trailer for Supergirl was the very first video shown to TikTok users in many countries all at once.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the event will launch this Saturday in 13 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, and Australia.
As soon as I open TikTok, it feels like Supergirl is everywhere! Though, to be honest, when I actually looked, it wasn’t the very first thing playing – but it’s definitely trending and hard to miss!

TikTok Tests a New Hollywood Marketing Weapon
TikTok is using this launch as a trial run for how it will promote things in the future. Because so many young people – particularly Gen Z and younger millennials – are on the platform, it’s a great way to get noticed.
Warner Bros. is the first movie studio to try out a new TikTok feature. It lets the trailer for Supergirl actually interact with the TikTok logo, making the app a part of the ad campaign.
TikTok is also launching a dedicated Spotlight Page for Supergirl, acting as a hub for:
- Official film info
- Trailer content
- Creator reactions and fan videos
As a film buff, I’m excited that the trailer won’t just live online! It’s going to be shown on huge digital displays in iconic places – think Times Square in New York and the Now Vista Building in London. It’s awesome they’re going all-out with the promotion!

A Different Kind of Supergirl
The movie features Milly Alcock, 25, playing Kara Zor-El, a character who is portrayed as tougher and more troubled than Superman.
Director Craig Gillespie explained that the movie focuses on a flawed hero, noting that Supergirl is burdened with inner struggles and emotional weight – a situation very different from Superman’s more stable life.
James Gunn, one of the heads of DC Studios, explained that the character is deliberately imperfect and has flaws, which is a different approach than how female superheroes are usually shown.

Cast and Creative Team
Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira.
Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa, who plays Lobo.
This movie is the next big release from DC Studios, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s already looking like their most ambitious marketing campaign to date.
