Supergirl Poster: First Look at Milly Alcock’s DCU Debut

As a thrilled fan, I’m excitedly sharing that James Gunn has unveiled the first official poster for Supergirl! This tantalizing teaser hints at Milly Alcock’s solo debut as Kara Zor-El, promising an incredible journey ahead.

The picture features Supergirl standing relaxed, positioned before a graffitied Superman emblem colored red with the words “BEWARE” sprayed on it. In hand, she’s holding a blue beverage, her iconic red and blue costume showing beneath a brown trench coat.

The poster has a similar vibe to that found in Superman, with Alcock’s portrayal of Supergirl making an unexpected appearance at the finale and referring to Superman as a “so-and-so” before snatching Krypto and departing.

In a peculiar turn of events, I’ve been discovered to have a unique affinity for planets with red suns. This revelation, understandably, sparked a range of responses among my followers.

In this adaptation, Milly Alcock portrays Kara Zor-El, who, according to Gunn, has a harder edge compared to Clark Kent. It’s worth noting that she was brought up in a more severe Kryptonian environment.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) with Ana Nogueira writing the script.

What to Expect

Given her limited appearance in Superman, it appears that the portrayal of Supergirl will emphasize a more defiant, candid interpretation of the character. This version of the story may differ significantly from Kal-El’s, which is marked by a sense of grounded optimism. The poster itself hints at this unconventional Supergirl who prioritizes her own path over adhering to tradition—she’s not afraid to break the mold.

At a DCU press event in January 2023, Gunn explained the contrast between Superman, who grew up on Earth with loving parents since his infancy, and Supergirl, who was born and raised on Krypton before witnessing its destruction and hardships for 14 years. As she later arrived on Earth as a young girl, she’s not like the Supergirl we usually know – she’s tougher and more intense.
