Studio Nicholson FW25 Refines Vintage Militaria

Summary

  • Studio Nicholson’s FW25 campaign, shot at Kettle’s Yard, draws inspiration from vintage militaria, featuring luxurious fabrics and key silhouettes like the Marylebone Jean and Dani Jacket.

Studio Nicholson recently revealed their FW25 advertising campaign, captured by Luna Conte within the walls of Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge – a storied residence-turned-museum that was previously the property of Tate Curator H.S. Jim Ede.

In the midst of contemporary art pieces and their personal belongings, the FW25 collection by Studio Nicholson takes its cue from classic military garb, subtly updated with modern elegance within the Edes’ studio space.

In discussing the inspiration for their latest collection, Nick Wakeman, Founder and Creative Director of Studio Nicholson, stated, “The concept of military uniform was our primary focus.” He went on to explain that this season marked a return to examining vintage military garments and finding ways to update them, making them less traditional and more contemporary.

The practical design of military-style pants such as the khaki Caro utility pants is harmoniously contrasted with gentler elements like the Scottish merino Sark sweater and the Inverness V-neck. For outerwear, the Revere trench and Dani Jacket receive a sophisticated upgrade through leather collars.

Wakeman underscores the unique textures of Japanese denim, noisy cotton, and linen viscose as the materials used for their distinctive qualities. The Marylebone Jean stands out, featuring an ultra-high rise and generous fit, available in rinsed indigo and raw black denim.
