As a devoted fan of mythology and dark comedies, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Netflix show, Kaos. Having followed the brilliant work of Charlie Covell, especially The End of the F***ing World, I can’t wait to see how he weaves Greek mythology into the contemporary world.
Last week, the preview for the upcoming Netflix series titled Kaos was unveiled, offering viewers a sneak peek into the storyline of this mythological show set in a contemporary world. Created by Charlie Covell, who is also known for producing the British dark comedy The End of the F***ing World on Netflix, this production combines aspects of Greek mythology with current times. In this contemporary reimagining, Zeus, the king of gods, takes center stage as the central character.
Actress Jeff Goldblum has been cast as the main character and shares insights with Netflix’s Tudum regarding the key traits of Zeus in the upcoming series.

Goldbum describes his character as intricate, captivating yet harsh, hinting at its downfall due to signs like a wrinkle on his forehead and other unfavorable portents. Charlie Covell’s writing, according to the Jurassic Park veteran, was an electrifying punch to the gut, showcasing intelligence, surprise, unpredictability, depth, profundity, and deep emotional resonance. In the series, Zeus is notably merciless and will go to any lengths to preserve his dominance.
Without a doubt, an actor-musician’s metamorphosis into their character isn’t limited to astonishing the spectators. In the production, Janet McTeer, who portrays Hera, Zeus’s wife, shared her admiration with a media outlet about the evolution of Zeus. She hinted that viewers would gradually find themselves becoming more and more apprehensive towards him as the story unfolds.
Fundamentally, Koas is presented as a blend of darkness and humor, sharing resemblances with Covell’s past projects. The creator encourages viewers to perceive it in this manner and enjoy the ride.
It’s clear that many people have noticed that the show’s name is a reference to the concept of chaos, indicating a major disruption ahead. As Covell explains, the title might seem ominous, but it could actually signify something positive.
The movie titled “Koas” is scheduled for release on Netflix on August 29, featuring stars like Debi Mazar, Billie Piper, Suzy Aitchison (Eddie Izzard), and originally Hugh Grant as Zeus. However, due to calendar conflicts, Grant had to withdraw from the role.
