
Legendary Pictures released the first trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter movie at The Game Awards, finally giving fans a preview of the highly anticipated film adaptation. It’s scheduled to be in theaters on October 16, 2026.
The trailer opened with the phrase “PUSH START,” immediately hinting at the World Warrior Tournament. It used quick cuts and a distinctive visual style clearly reminiscent of the original Capcom games.

The trailer uses the energetic song “Punk Tactics” by Joey Valence and Brae, which sounds like the Beastie Boys. This immediately shows the new film will be fast-paced and modern, but still capture the fun, classic feel of arcade games.
Although the video was short, it effectively showed off the grand scope of the tournament, featuring fast-paced fighting moments and the exciting, memorable characters that fans love about Street Fighter.

The reveal highlighted the game’s incredibly deep character selection, featuring many favorites from the original Street Fighter II alongside characters introduced in later installments.
The movie’s cast features Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Eric André as Don Sauvage, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.

Character Posters Released
Along with the game’s trailer, striking character posters were revealed. Each poster featured a fighter with vibrant colors, fonts inspired by the game, and a realistic, updated design. These posters showed off the complete cast of characters and gave fans a detailed preview of what they’d look like.
The designs use familiar shapes and recognizable actions, mixing realistic details with the over-the-top style of classic arcade games.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai
Kitao Sakurai, known for directing Bad Trip and Twisted Metal, helms the film, which is a collaboration between him and Capcom. Legendary will distribute the movie worldwide through its partnership with Paramount Pictures.
