Fans of Stranger Things can relive the show’s classic feel with its new animated spin-off. Like they did with the season five finale, Netflix is bringing a piece of Stranger Things to the big screen. For one day only, you can see the first two episodes of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 in select AMC theaters – five days before it starts streaming.

Netflix and AMC Theatres are working together to bring fans a special experience. This animated story takes place between the second and third seasons of Stranger Things. After a normal winter filled with snow fights and games, the kids from Hawkins are pulled back into the dangerous world of the Upside Down. A new threat is stirring, creating a fresh mystery. Along the way, they’ll meet both allies and frightening new creatures.
I’m so excited for Tales of ’85! I heard the first two episodes together are about 55 minutes long, and they’re doing a special showing in 34 AMC theaters across 20 states on April 18th. That’s awesome because it’s five days before all ten episodes drop on Netflix! Each theater will show them twice, once at noon and again at 3 PM. It’s a bit more intimate than the Stranger Things 5 finale’s release – they played that in around 600 theaters, which is huge! But I love that Tales of ’85 is doing this, it feels special.
The official synopsis of Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 is as follows:
Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max are enjoying a return to normal life – playing Dungeons & Dragons, having snowball fights, and just hanging out. However, a new threat is rising, and it could be connected to the Upside Down, Hawkins Lab, or something even more mysterious. This is an original story that follows our heroes as they try to uncover the truth and protect their town.
We recently shared a glimpse of the new animated series with seven vibrant character cards. Along with those, Netflix revealed a new character who loves punk music – Nikki Baxter, voiced by Odessa A’zion. If you’re excited to see it on the big screen, don’t wait! Tickets for a special preview of Tales From ‘85 will be available starting Wednesday, March 18th.
