The young actors from Hawkins quickly became successful in their careers, and the adult cast members have been equally busy. They’ve all been working on a variety of projects – from starring in popular movies and releasing hit songs to performing on Broadway and appearing in new TV shows – while also preparing for the final season of the show. Here’s an update on what some of the main cast members have been up to.
Millie Bobby Brown
Millie Bobby Brown starred in the fantasy film ‘Damsel’ and reprised her role as Enola Holmes on Netflix. Beyond acting, she also started her own beauty company and published her first novel. She’s still involved in several future movies and will be returning as Eleven for the final season of her popular show.
Finn Wolfhard
Finn Wolfhard returned as Trevor in ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ and also directed his first feature film, the comedy ‘Hell of a Summer’. In addition to acting, he’s the frontman for the band The Aubreys and continues to do voice work for animated projects. He skillfully juggles big-budget films with independent productions.
Noah Schnapp
I’ve been following Noah Schnapp, and it’s amazing to see how much he’s doing! He went back to college while *also* starting his own businesses – he’s even working on a food startup! Of course, I’m thrilled he’s still playing a key role in the final season of the show we all love, but he’s also really built up a strong presence online, doing his own thing outside of just acting. It’s cool to see him branching out!
Caleb McLaughlin
McLaughlin has been building a strong acting career, appearing in films like the sports drama ‘Shooting Stars’ and the historical epic ‘The Book of Clarence’. Beyond live-action roles, he also does voice work for animated projects and is dedicated to supporting mental health initiatives. Fans can also look forward to his return as Lucas, alongside several other upcoming film projects.
Gaten Matarazzo
Matarazzo recently finished a successful run in the Broadway show ‘Sweeney Todd’ and has since performed in concerts. He also appears on podcasts and game shows, and continues to look for new roles in theater. In addition, he stays involved with charitable causes and attends fan events.
Sadie Sink
I’ve been really impressed with Hong Chau lately. She got so much deserved attention for ‘The Whale,’ and then kept delivering with smaller, interesting films like ‘Berlin Nobody’ and even a musical western, ‘O’Dessa.’ Plus, she’s become a bit of a fashion icon, doing campaigns for big brands. But I’m especially excited to see her taking on bigger roles – she’s back as Max, and it feels like we’re going to see a lot more of her on screen, which is fantastic!
Natalia Dyer
Dyer has acted in independent films shown at various festivals, such as ‘All Fun and Games’ and ‘Chestnut’. She currently works on projects both in New York and around the world, and her future roles will likely be in emotionally focused dramatic stories.
Charlie Heaton
Heaton oversaw preparations for the BBC’s stage adaptation of ‘The Elephant Man’ and also acted in independent films throughout Europe. He generally prefers working on smaller projects and staying out of the spotlight. Now, he’s back as Jonathan for the last season.
Joe Keery
Keery makes music under the name Djo and has been touring, gaining popularity after his song ‘End of Beginning’ went viral. He’s also appeared in the TV show ‘Fargo’ and the movie ‘Marmalade,’ and continues to pursue both music and acting, including reprising his role as Steve.
Maya Hawke
I’m a huge fan of Hawke, and it’s been amazing watching her career. Just recently, she’s been in Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’ and Bradley Cooper’s ‘Maestro,’ and she absolutely killed it in the fun teen comedy ‘Do Revenge.’ But she’s not just an actress – she’s a musician too! She put out an album called ‘Chaos Angel’ and manages to balance live performances with all her filming. What I really love is that she consistently appears in interesting indie films while *also* returning to her role as Robin, which is fantastic. She really does it all!
Priah Ferguson
Jenna Ortega starred in the family comedy ‘The Curse of Bridge Hollow’ and landed more roles in streaming comedies. She’s also started doing voice acting and working with brands. As her popularity increases, you can expect to see more of her on screen.
David Harbour
David Harbour recently appeared in the movie ‘Gran Turismo’ and the action-comedy ‘Violent Night’, with another ‘Violent Night’ film already planned. He’s also reprising his role as Red Guardian in the Marvel movie ‘Thunderbolts’ and continuing to work on diverse projects for streaming services. Plus, he’s bringing back his character, Hopper, for the final season of the show.
Winona Ryder
As a big film fan, I was thrilled to see Winona Ryder back as Lydia Deetz in the new ‘Beetlejuice’ movie! She’s really selective about the projects she takes on now, and also does a lot of work to support keeping the arts alive, which is fantastic. Of course, Joyce Byers from ‘Stranger Things‘ is still one of the roles she’s most known and loved for – it’s a character she absolutely nailed.
Brett Gelman
Gelman starred in the British comedy ‘Entitled’ and had roles in films such as ‘The Beanie Bubble’. He’s still working on voiceover projects and writing, including a new novel. He’s also reprising his role as Murray, bringing even more skill in espionage to the character.
Cara Buono
I’ve been following actress Shannon Buono for a while now, and she’s really building a solid career! She’s consistently landing roles in those popular crime and procedural shows you see on TV, but she’s not just acting – she’s also working on developing her own projects behind the scenes. When she’s not filming, she stays sharp by participating in theater workshops in New York, which I think is fantastic. And I’m really excited to see her reprise her role as Karen Wheeler for the final season – she’s a great addition to that show!
Dacre Montgomery
After gaining recognition as Billy, Montgomery has worked on both independent Australian films and major Hollywood productions. He also lends his voice to poetry recordings and frequently appears in fashion advertising. Occasionally, he revisits his earlier role through flashbacks or bonus content related to the original franchise.
Jamie Campbell Bower
After gaining recognition playing Vecna, Bower expanded his career into creating new villains for film and television, and also released music with his band. He continues to balance touring with work on dark fantasy projects, and remains a key figure in the show’s mythology.
Matthew Modine
Actor David Modine recently starred in ‘Oppenheimer’ and remains dedicated to making documentaries and supporting environmental causes. He balances work on both big-budget movies and smaller, independent films. Even though his character Dr. Brenner is no longer filmed, he still appears in the show through previously recorded footage and as part of the storyline.
Paul Reiser
Judge Reinhold recently reprised his role in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ and has appeared in multiple episodes of the popular series ‘The Boys’. When he’s not filming, he tours the country doing stand-up comedy and continues to work on both action-packed projects and comedy specials.
Joseph Quinn
Following the popularity of Eddie Munson, Quinn quickly landed prominent roles, including a starring position in ‘The Fantastic Four’. He’s now appearing in both critically acclaimed films and large-scale historical movies, and continues to meet fans at conventions while steadily building his acting career.
Eduardo Franco
After playing Argyle, Franco continued to star in comedic roles and do voice work. He chose not to return for the last season to pursue other opportunities, and is currently creating sketch and digital content.
Grace Van Dien
After her role in ‘Stranger Things’, Van Dien transitioned to live-streaming and competitive gaming, where she’s gained a significant following. She now works with brands, creates her own content, and still takes on acting roles in smaller films.
