Joe Keery is currently experiencing a surge in popularity, and it’s not solely due to his acting. Following the conclusion of “Stranger Things,” he’s rapidly gained recognition as a musician too.
Joe Keery, known for his role as Steve Harrington in the Netflix show Stranger Things, also performs music as Djo. His song “End of Beginning,” which came out in 2022, is now becoming very popular.
The song has become the most-streamed track on Spotify for a single day. It surpassed Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia,” which had been number one since its release on her album “The Life of a Showgirl” back in October.
Spotify reports that “End of Beginning” has been the top song since January 2, 2026, coinciding with the release of the final “Stranger Things” episode. Remarkably, the song is nearly four years old but is only now becoming so popular.
While filming “Stranger Things” over almost a decade, Joe Keery also pursued his music. He managed to balance acting with recording during breaks from the show. Originally, his character wasn’t expected to be a major part of the series, but it unexpectedly became one of the most popular. Now, the show’s success is helping more people discover his music.
“End of Beginning” is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, but this isn’t the first time it’s been noticed. The song recently charted well on Billboard, and Joe Keery discussed its success with Billboard magazine.
He thought it was great, but admitted he wasn’t sure he fully understood everything happening. He also said reaching certain achievements was nice, but what he really loved was simply being able to create music in the studio.
I’m seeing Joe Keery everywhere lately! It feels like the “Stranger Things” finale was a huge success, doing really well both in cinemas and on Netflix, and his music is totally blowing up on streaming. Plus, he’s still acting – he’s got a new movie, “Cold Storage,” coming out in February. And apparently, he’s not going to be involved in any of the “Stranger Things” spin-offs, which is good, because it means he’ll have even more time for all these other exciting projects!
