
After almost nine years, the popular Netflix series Stranger Things is ending with its fifth and final season. Fans who’ve been following the story from the town of Hawkins and the mysterious Upside Down are eagerly awaiting the release of the last episodes. Netflix has announced that the series finale will premiere on Wednesday, December 31st, bringing the show’s story to a close.
The fifth season of Stranger Things, the last one, is being released in three parts. The first part, with four episodes, came out on November 26th and left viewers with a suspenseful ending. The second part arrived on December 25th, offering three more episodes as a Christmas Day treat. Now, just the final part is left to complete the series.
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 3 release date and time on Netflix
The third and final installment, consisting of a single episode, will debut on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, at 8 PM Eastern Time / 5 PM Pacific Time. As with previous releases, you’ll be able to watch it only on Netflix.
The season finale is called “Chapter 8: The Rightside Up,” and at 2 hours and 8 minutes long, it’s the longest episode of the season, according to the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers.
Ross Duffer announced the lengths of the final four episodes on Instagram this week. Here’s a look at how long each one is:
- Episode 5, Shock Jock: 1 hour 8 minutes
- Episode 6, Escape From Camazotz: 1 hour 15 minutes
- Episode 7, The Bridge: 1 hour 6 minutes
- Episode 8, The Rightside Up: 2 hours 8 minutes
Here’s what makes the Stranger Things series finale different
For the first time ever, fans can watch the final episodes of Stranger Things in two ways! Netflix is releasing Volume 3 of Season 5 both on its streaming service and in over 350 movie theaters across the US and Canada. The theatrical release starts December 31st at 8 PM Eastern Time and will continue through January 1, 2026.
Episodes 5, 6, and 7 were released on Christmas Day and continued the story right after the events of the first part of the show, building towards a final conflict. The last episode promises to wrap up the main plotlines and give satisfying endings to beloved characters.
