The team behind the show—the Duffer Brothers, along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen—are back to produce the new season.

The core cast returns for the new season, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and many others like Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp. Amybeth McNulty, who had a guest role before, is now a series regular. Joining them are new actors Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Linda Hamilton.

The story continues in 1987, right after the events of season four. As the group struggles to close the Rifts that have opened in Hawkins and stop Vecna, things get even harder when the military begins pursuing Eleven. Adding to the pressure, the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance looms as the friends confront a final, life-threatening danger.

The new season first premiered in Los Angeles on November 6, 2025. Viewers in the U.S. and Canada will also be able to see the final episode in movie theaters through January 1, 2026. Initially, reports suggested the finale wouldn’t be shown in theaters, with the focus instead on streaming. But Ross Duffer later shared that plans for a theatrical release had been developing for almost a year.
