STRANGER THINGS Comes to MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR

It’s common to see movies and TV shows partner with products or appear within other entertainment, like when Fallout showed up in Fortnite. It’s a way to leverage popular brands and create a nostalgic experience. The latest example is surprisingly unexpected: you can now virtually fly over the town of Hawkins, Indiana, from Stranger Things using the new update to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We’d definitely call this collaboration unusual.

A playful press release on Xbox.com presents a news article from September 9, 1987, detailing the launch of Hawkins Heli-Tours. This new business aims to boost tourism in Hawkins after the dramatic events of Stranger Things 4. Surprisingly, the venture is the idea of Murray Bauman, who also provided the Bell UH-1H “Huey” helicopter used for the tours.

I’ve been hearing some interesting things from the locals about activity near the old forest road and the radio station – late-night planes, strange deliveries, and talk of… let’s just say unconventional deals going down. But when I brought these rumors to Murray Bauman – yes, that Murray from Stranger Things – he completely dismissed them with a chuckle, saying, ‘Contraband? Please. This isn’t Miami Vice!’ It’s classic Murray, really – always the voice of reason, even when things get weird.

The latest update to Microsoft Flight Simulator for 2024 will let players explore locations from the TV show Stranger Things. This includes iconic spots like Starcourt Mall, Hawkins Middle School, Brimborn Steelworks, the Creel House, and Hawkins Labs. Players will also encounter otherworldly rifts and glowing openings, if they choose to seek them out.

A new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming next year, but the 2024 edition is available now. If you want to experience the Stranger Things expansion, you’ll need the 2024 edition – the expansion is free, but the game itself costs money. You can play on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, and even through the cloud, making it accessible on almost any platform.
