In preparation for the upcoming fifth and last season of Stranger Things, it’s been confirmed that the location in California, where the Byers family moved with Eleven in Season 4, has now been purchased by a new owner.
Despite appearing as a coastal California home on-screen, the filming location in fact lies in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The property was put up for sale in February 2025, priced at $675,000. However, according to real estate sources from TMZ who were privy to the deal, it was sold this past Friday for less than its asking price.
The spacious 4,350-square-foot residence was showcased in both indoor and outdoor sequences of the popular Netflix series. It boasts four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a scenic backyard pond. Originally acquired in 2021, its previous owners had remodeled it into a vacation rental.
The method used here was similar to that applied to the Byers family home from Seasons 1 to 3, which also sparked curiosity among viewers as a potential vacation spot. Since its introduction on the show, the Albuquerque house has subtly transformed into a tourist hotspot, with fans often visiting to snap pictures.
The true identities of the recent purchasers have not been revealed, and it’s unclear if they are enthusiasts of the franchise or are merely drawn to the distinctive allure of the site’s reputation. Cindy Gomez from Realty One in New Mexico acted as their representative during the transaction.
The house is being sold in a few months, coincidentally around the same time as the much-awaited release of Stranger Things Season 5, divided into three volumes from November to December in 2025. Given that the show has garnered enormous worldwide attention — Netflix reported more than 250 million impressions for the finale announcement alone — the timing of the property sale aligns perfectly with the series’ dramatic ending.
