When the first episodes of “Stranger Things” season 5 launched on Wednesday, November 26th, some Netflix users experienced a short outage. Fans eager to watch the new season of the popular show were briefly unable to access the platform shortly after the episodes became available at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
The issue was quickly resolved. A Netflix representative stated that some users had a temporary problem streaming on their TVs, but the service was fully restored for everyone within five minutes.
Ross Duffer, one of the creators of “Stranger Things,” shared on Instagram that Netflix boosted its bandwidth by 30% to handle the expected high demand for the new season, demonstrating how much preparation went into the release.
The fifth and final season of the show will have eight episodes, released in three waves. The first four episodes came out on November 26th, with another four arriving on December 25th, and the final two episodes premiering on December 31st. The Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen are producing the season.

The fifth season will bring back familiar faces like Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, and the rest of the core cast. Joe Chrest and Amybeth McNulty, who previously had recurring roles, are now series regulars. Joining them are new cast members Linda Hamilton, Jake Connelly, and Nell Fisher.
The new season starts in the fall of 1987, following the events of the previous one. The group faces Vecna and other dangers in Hawkins, but things get more complicated when the military arrives and starts focusing on Eleven. With the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance looming, the friends are gearing up for what they believe will be their most dangerous and final mission. Eleven is working to regain her powers to defeat Vecna, while the others figure out how to best support her in this ultimate showdown.
