Okay, I’m officially hyped! Netflix just dropped the first five minutes of Stranger Things 5, and let me tell you, it’s intense. They immediately pull you right back into the creepy Upside Down and give you a glimpse into the past. It doesn’t mess around at all!
A Flashback to the Beginning
The last season starts on November 12, 1983 – the day Will Byers went missing and things in Hawkins began to fall apart. A sneak peek from the first episode, called “The Crawl,” was shown at a fan event and takes viewers back to a dark moment in the past.
Will is trapped in the terrifying Upside Down, taking shelter in a small fort he built in the woods. A Demogorgon is hunting him, so he tries to escape, but it’s no use. He’s pulled into Vecna’s hideout, and Vecna finally speaks, declaring, “At long last, we can begin.”
Okay, let me tell you, that Vecna scene with Will… wow. It was genuinely terrifying. He just wraps Will in these vines, shoves one right into his mouth, and whispers this incredibly creepy line about doing ‘beautiful things’ together. It completely shifted the mood of the whole episode, instantly reminding you just how dangerous and unsettling Vecna is. It was a brutal, chilling moment that really kicked the final act into high gear.

No More Slow Build
The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, have said that season 5 will jump right into the action. Unlike previous seasons, there won’t be a typical beginning where things return to normal before the story starts – it’s going to be fast-paced from the very beginning.
Things are moving incredibly fast this season,” said Ross Duffer. Matt Duffer explained that “nothing feels normal in Hawkins anymore,” and that the characters are being watched closely with surveillance everywhere.
What Happens After
After the glimpse into the past, Vecna vanishes. Everyone tries to come back together while the military locks down Hawkins. The government is after Eleven again, and Vecna still poses a huge danger. The story hints that the whole group will have to team up for a final showdown.
Viewers can look forward to learning more about the history and mysteries of the Upside Down. The creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, are planning to incorporate details from a 25-page document outlining the world’s backstory – something they created when the series began. Many of the most important events in the final season will be based on these original ideas.
