Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 Runtimes Revealed, Series Finale Tops Two Hours

Ross Duffer has announced the lengths of the episodes for Stranger Things 5 Volume 2. The series will conclude with a movie-length final episode.

Volume 2 premieres on December 25, with the series finale arriving on New Year’s Eve.

Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 Episode Runtimes

The second half of the final season includes four episodes, each running well over an hour:

  • Chapter Five: “Shock Jock” (Episode 5) – 68 minutes
  • Chapter Six: “Escape from Camazotz” (Episode 6) – 75 minutes
  • Chapter Seven: “The Bridge” (Episode 7) – 66 minutes
  • Chapter Eight: “The Rightside Up” (Episode 8 – Series Finale) – 128 minutes

The finale clocks in at 2 hours and 8 minutes, making it the longest episode in the show’s history.

A Movie-Length Ending for Hawkins

The longer runtime fits with what the creators, the Duffer Brothers, have said about wrapping up the story of the Upside Down. As Will’s abilities develop, Vecna tries to create a new world, and Hawkins faces total danger, the final episode is shaping up to be a movie-like ending, not just a typical TV finale.

When paired with Volume 1, Stranger Things Season 5 feels like a long movie concluding the series, as Netflix has allowed the creators to wrap up all the important plot lines.

When to Watch Stranger Things 5 Volume 2

  • Volume 2 Episodes 5–7: December 25 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET
  • Series Finale (Episode 8): New Year’s Eve (and will be released in theaters)
  • All episodes release simultaneously worldwide

I remember when Stranger Things first hit the scene – it all started with the disappearance of one boy in Hawkins, Indiana. Now, after all this time, it’s wrapping up with a massive, two-hour finale. The creators are clearly aiming to finally shut the door on the Upside Down, and everything that’s come with it, for good.
