The people who made Stranger Things, known as the Duffer Brothers, have talked about whether the second part of the show’s last season will be more violent than what viewers have already seen.
When asked if fans should expect major character deaths, they made it clear the series will not follow the extreme violence seen in shows like Game of Thrones. “I’ve said this before: The show is not ‘Game of Thrones.’ I’m hoping it surprises people. But there’s no Red Wedding, if that’s what you’re asking. That would be depressing,” they explained.
The first part of Stranger Things season 5 didn’t kill off any major characters, even those who faced risky situations like Ted and Karen. According to creator Ross Duffer, this was intentional, as the story needed to set up the development of Will’s abilities before moving forward.
Once the creators decided to explore Will’s powers this season, they knew the first part of the story had to end with both a low point – the kids being captured – and a high point – Will discovering his abilities. The plan was always to use Vecna taking the children as that crucial low point to conclude the first volume.”
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be released on Netflix in three parts. There are eight episodes total, with the first part premiering on November 26th. The second part will be available on December 25th, and the final episodes will arrive on December 31st. The Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen produced the season.
The show features the return of many beloved actors, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Joe Chrest and Amybeth McNulty will now be main cast members, and Linda Hamilton, Jake Connelly, and Nell Fisher are joining the show this season as new characters.
The creators, the Duffer brothers, have said the show will still prioritize building its characters and creating tension, rather than using unexpected deaths for shock value. The second part of the season will delve into the consequences of what happened in the first part, keeping viewers invested in the story through compelling narrative, not just big losses.
