The trailer for the second part of Stranger Things season 5 is out now, and it completely changes what fans believed about the Upside Down.
The final season continues December 25th with three brand new episodes available on Christmas Day. They’ll begin streaming at 5 p.m. Pacific Time / 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
In the trailer, a bruised and beaten Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) warns that everything they thought they knew about the Upside Down is incorrect.
The footage makes it clear Hawkins is running out of time — and hope. Watch below.

Hawkins Races Against the Clock
Volume 2 picks up with the group scrambling to uncover Hawkins’ darkest secrets.
Will tells Joyce they didn’t succeed and that they were always at a disadvantage. But Joyce strongly disagrees, insisting it’s not over yet.
The trailer is full of exciting scenes, like a life-or-death agreement between Steve and Dustin, an electric shock affecting the Demogorgon, and increasing danger as Vecna gets closer.

Will Byers’ Powers Take Center Stage
Volume 2 primarily centers on Will and his increasing link to Vecna and the Upside Down. As co-creator Ross Duffer explains, the plan from the beginning was to connect the story’s ending back to its origins.
The Duffer Brothers, creators of the show, revealed they always intended for Will to have a special link to Vecna and the Upside Down. They considered the idea of Will learning to control that connection and using it to fight the villains from the very beginning, as they told Netflix.
Duffer explained that Will, the boy who disappeared in Season 1, would likely be the one to finally defeat Vecna.

“We Have Two Elevens”
Gaten Matarazzo hinted that Will’s abilities will significantly shift the dynamic, giving the Hawkins group a better chance against Vecna. Finn Wolfhard put it concisely: “It’s like having two Elevens.”
The trailer ends with Vecna announcing the dawn of a “new world,” hinting at a climactic battle that appears even more frightening and action-packed than previous conflicts.
